Join Wild Notes Foundation for The Worlds We Imagine, a playful, interactive family music experience where familiar songs become doorways into the living world around us.
Professional cellist and music educator Dr. Amanda Guilfoyle will perform favorites including A Whole New World, Winnie the Pooh, You've Got a Friend in Me, Circle of Life, How Far I'll Go, Colors of the Wind, and more—while inviting kids and their grown-ups to explore the real-life ideas hidden inside them.
Who might be living in the woods around us? How do animals find their way across enormous distances? What does it mean for two living things to depend on one another? And what happens when we stop thinking of nature as the background and start listening to everything happening around us?
Throughout this approximately 30-minute program, children will be invited to answer questions, make observations, search the landscape, use their imaginations, and listen alongside the cello.
No need to sit perfectly still. No need to know anything about classical music. Curiosity is enough.

Children often meet the natural world through imagination long before they understand it through science. Forests hold storybook animals. Oceans contain impossible worlds. Stars grant wishes. Songs give voices to landscapes, creatures, and places we have never seen.
The Worlds We Imagine begins with that sense of wonder and turns it toward the real world.
By connecting music children may already recognize with ideas like habitat, migration, navigation, interdependence, soundscapes, and careful observation, Wild Notes creates an experience where learning happens through curiosity and participation.
Families won't simply hear a cello concert. They'll be invited to look for hidden animal homes, imagine who might share the woods with us, discover surprising ways living things find and help one another, and notice the sounds the landscape is already making.
Our hope is simple: that families leave hearing and seeing the place around them just a little differently than they did when they arrived.

A free, approximately 30-minute interactive solo cello program designed especially for families and children.
Kids are encouraged to participate. They can answer questions, make observations, laugh, wonder, sing along, and help shape the conversation as we explore the connections between music, imagination, and the natural world.
Grown-ups are encouraged to participate, too.
The program is designed to be welcoming for children without talking down to them, with ideas families can keep exploring together long after the final piece.
No tickets are required, and there is no cost to attend.
What to Bring:
Bring a picnic blanket or portable camping chair for seating! The program is planned to take place outdoors on the Nature Center grounds, weather permitting. Families will meet at the Nature Center upon arrival, and staff will direct you to that day's program location.
In case of inclement weather, the program will move indoors to the Nature Center's education room.
